A specially engineered fiber glass reinforced thermoset polyester composite.

Thermalate® H330 is a specially engineered fiberglass reinforced thermoset polyester composite which offer superior energy efficiency, temperature control, and durability for high temperature mold and platen thermal applications.  Designed to operate at temperatures of up to 550°F, Thermalate H330 is tougher and more durable than mica; it does not crack or break easily during mold set up and tear down. Thermalate H330 is resistant to oil and fluids that cause other materials to deteriorate. It requires no maintenance. Thermalate H330’s high compressive strength resists impression so it does not cause mold misalignment.

In the rubber, plastics, and wood panel industries, material is pressed directly between hot platens. Without a layer of protective insulation between the heated tool and the press, a significant amount of heat will be transferred to the press. In hydraulic presses, not only do the tables, beams and frames heat up, but so do the pistons and hydraulic fluid. This causes premature wear to packings in the entire system. Extreme temperatures in the guide systems will also lead to a loss of lubricants, and thus excessive wear.

Insulation is an effective means to precisely control and manage heat in the molding process, improving the performance of the mold. Installation of thermal insulation will result in energy savings between 50 and 75 percent, depending upon conditions. Thus, thermal insulation is economical. The cost of insulation is quickly amortized and paid off through lower production costs and improved quality.

Thermalate H330 Advantages:

  • Asbestos Free

  • Cost Effective: Increased efficiency allows for short payback.

  • Low Thermal Conductivity/Energy

  • Efficient: Saves and allows more precise temperature control

  • High Heat Resistance: Designed to operate at temperatures up to 550°

  • High Compressive Strength: Will not take a compressive “set”, causing mold alignment problems, when subject to extremely high molding pressures.

  • Tough and Durable: Does not crack or break easily during mold setup or tear down. More durable than mica or asbestos materials.

  • Resists Oils and Fluids: Other more absorbent insulators, such as concrete asbestos, can deteriorate or alter their thermal conductivity.

  • No Maintenance.
